Putting the Pieces Together

Putting the Pieces Together

In the many years I’ve been writing and helping people get their thoughts down on paper in a coherent manner I have discovered that words are fickle. They come to some through their voices and to others through a pen. They escape the most well-spoken man when he sits down at a desk to write and spill out in a flood of nouns and verbs to another who cannot call up a single sentence when facing a crowd of people.  There are people who can do both but in my experiences I find that most people either speak well, or they write well. They rarely do both.

I am a perfect example. I can write something that you can then take to the stage and present with flair and gusto, but I could not get up there and deliver if my life depended on it. I can write anything from business letters to poetry, but don’t put me in front of a crowd to read what I’ve written. The crazy thing is – I want to know what you think of my writing. I want to know if you like it or not, I just don’t want to read it to a crowd.

We are all different, and each carry a skill the others may not possess. That’s what makes the world go around, and why we need each other to keep it spinning. None of us is better or worse than another, just different. But we need different to all survive.
